“Bawumia’s Running Mate Will be a Ghanaian” – Bryan Acheampong

Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, has emphasized the need to move away from regional biases in selecting the running mate for the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Acheampong in an interview, described suggestions that the running mate should come from the Ashanti Region as “archaic,” urging for a focus on national unity and progress.

“A running mate is within Ghana and a running mate is within Dr. Bawumia’s right to choose for the NPP, we should stop that conversation of he’s from here, he’s from there,” Acheampong stated during the interview on Onua FM. He highlighted that Dr. Bawumia’s selection should be based on competence and leadership qualities rather than ethnic or regional background.

Acheampong stressed the importance of choosing leaders based on meritocracy, stating, “Dr. Bawumia was not selected because he is from Mamprusi.

However, he expressed his support for whoever Dr. Bawumia selects, emphasizing the need to focus on the candidate’s abilities and commitment to national development.
