The University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) has released a medical report on Elrad Amoako, the 16-year-old son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, who was admitted on October 12, 2024, after a serious accident in East Legon that tragically claimed the lives of two young girls and left others injured.
Elrad, initially treated at Legon Hospital, was transferred to UGMC for specialized treatment due to severe injuries. The report, signed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Fred Salawu, details Elrad’s injuries, including an open right ankle dislocation and facial lacerations. He underwent emergency surgery on October 14, 2024, which included debridement, external fixation of his right ankle, and a flap cover procedure. Surgical findings indicated a Grade III B open dislocation with ligament tears in the ankle.
On October 21, 2024, he also underwent a split skin graft for a post-traumatic ulcer and is currently mobilizing without bearing weight on his right leg. Elrad was discharged on October 28, 2024, to continue his recovery as an outpatient.
In response to recent reports, Dr. Salawu clarified that Elrad is presently unfit for police interrogation due to his ongoing medical treatment. He assured authorities that they would be notified once Elrad’s recovery allows for questioning.
