The Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) and the Federation of University Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG) have announced the suspension of their strike, effective Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
This decision was made following an emergency meeting on Monday, October 14, during which the associations received communication from the government addressing their key demands. Notably, the government approved new rates for the Vehicle Maintenance Allowance (VMA) and Off-Campus Allowance.
The associations’ National Executive Committees (NECs) emphasized that the strike suspension will allow for continued negotiations with the government on the ongoing discussions about Conditions of Service (COS). Additionally, issues concerning the migration of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UNIMAC) to the Universities Pay Structure are being actively resolved.
These negotiations are expected to conclude within two weeks, as outlined in a Memorandum of Agreement signed on October 2, 2024. Members have been urged to remain patient as leadership continues to engage with the government to secure their demands.
