Two people have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a storey building at London Bridge in Cape Coast, Central Region, on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
The tragic incident occurred during a heavy downpour, which is believed to have contributed to the structural failure of the building. Five individuals were reportedly trapped beneath the debris when the collapse occurred.
Emergency teams from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the police, and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) quickly responded to the scene to rescue those trapped. Unfortunately, two of the victims could not be saved.
Initial reports suggest the building may have been structurally weak, though an official cause is yet to be confirmed. Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations to determine the exact reason for the collapse and assess the safety of surrounding structures.
