Tragic Fire at Kpone Kokompe Claims Four Lives

A devastating fire that broke out at Kpone Kokompe on Friday, September 13, 2024, has claimed the lives of four individuals, including a 14-year-old girl, two boys aged 11 and 2, and a 27-year-old man.

The fire, which began at 11:28 p.m., rapidly spread, consuming 10 wooden structures and destroying various personal belongings, including furniture and home appliances.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to the scene at 11:47 p.m., successfully containing the blaze by 12:31 a.m. and fully extinguishing it by 12:55 a.m. Despite their efforts, it was later discovered that a 27-year-old man, who had unexpectedly returned home, was not accounted for, resulting in his death along with the three children.

The community has been left in mourning as investigations continue to determine the cause of the fire. Earlier today, the Tema Regional Fire Commander, ACFO II Patrick Sallah, and his team visited the affected families to offer condolences and assess the damage. Firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading further, avoiding additional loss.

The GNFS expressed its deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and all those impacted by the tragedy.
