Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus Nominated for 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award

Ghanaian footballers Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus have received nominations for the prestigious CAF Men’s Footballer of the Year Award. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the nominations on November 1, 2023, setting the stage for the Awards Gala scheduled to take place on December 11, 2023, in Marrakech, Morocco.

Partey and Kudus are among thirty players shortlisted for the top prize. A panel comprising CAF Technical Experts, African Football Legends, and selected media representatives from various countries compiled the preliminary list for the different categories. The nominees’ performances between November 2022 and September 2023 were taken into consideration.

The CAF African Player of the Year category features thirty players, while the CAF Interclub Player of the Year category has twenty nominees. Additionally, the Coach of the Year, CAF National Team of the Year, and Club of the Year categories each have ten nominees, as does the CAF Young Player of the Year category, which is specifically for players under the age of 21.

Mohammed Kudus recently joined West Ham United from Ajax Amsterdam during the summer transfer window, while Thomas Partey currently plays for Arsenal after his move from Atletico Madrid in October 2020. Both players also represented Ghana at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
