Renowned artist Drake, a multi-Grammy winner, has revealed his decision to temporarily step away from the music scene. This announcement came just hours after the launch of his latest album, “For All The Dogs.” The primary reason behind this hiatus, according to the artist, is his long-standing battle with stomach issues.
“I need to focus on my health first and foremost,” Drake emphasized during his radio show on Friday. As a result of his decision, several upcoming performances have been postponed indefinitely.
Drake, who has secured four Grammy Awards throughout his career, expressed his concern for his well-being and the importance of maintaining good health. He mentioned, “Nothing crazy, but just like, you know, I want people to be healthy in life, and I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach.”
During the announcement, the rapper disclosed his intention to close the studio door for an unspecified duration. He said, “I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit, I don’t even know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or something. Maybe a little longer.” Drake later shared this message with his vast following on Instagram, stating, “See ya when I see ya.”
While Drake was originally scheduled to perform concerts in his hometown of Toronto on Friday and Saturday, these shows have also been postponed. Additional tour dates in Denver, New Orleans, Nashville, and Columbus, Ohio, have been affected by his decision to focus on his health.
Drake’s choice to take a break aligns with a growing trend among musicians who have had to cancel tour dates due to health issues. In July, Madonna postponed her tour by three months after a severe bacterial infection required hospitalization. Last month, Bruce Springsteen also postponed his tour dates in September due to a peptic ulcer, a condition affecting the stomach lining or small intestine.
Drake, at 36 years old, has solidified his place as one of the most influential figures in the hip-hop industry. His latest album features artwork created by his five-year-old son, who also appears in the music video for the single “8AM in Charlotte.”
