President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Turns 80 Today

Today, Ghanaians across the world are celebrating the 80th birthday of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who has been the President of Ghana since January 2017. Born on March 29, 1944, in Swalaba, a suburb of Accra, President Akufo-Addo comes from a prominent Ghanaian royal and political family.

President Akufo-Addo’s political career spans several decades, including serving as Attorney General from 2001 to 2003 and as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2007 under the Kufuor-led administration. He has been a Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South and Akim Abuakwa South constituencies.

In his tenure as President, Akufo-Addo has implemented various policies and initiatives, including the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, aimed at making secondary high school education free for students in Ghana. He has also focused on economic development, job creation, and infrastructure improvement.
