Today, Ghanaians across the world are celebrating the 80th birthday of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who has been the President of Ghana since January 2017. Born on March 29, 1944, in Swalaba, a suburb of Accra, President Akufo-Addo comes from a prominent Ghanaian royal and political family.
President Akufo-Addo’s political career spans several decades, including serving as Attorney General from 2001 to 2003 and as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2007 under the Kufuor-led administration. He has been a Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South and Akim Abuakwa South constituencies.
In his tenure as President, Akufo-Addo has implemented various policies and initiatives, including the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, aimed at making secondary high school education free for students in Ghana.
