President Akufo-Addo Urges Collective Efforts for Fairness and Transparency in 2024 Elections

President Akufo-Addo, marking the 30th anniversary of the 4th Republic in a national address, emphasized the critical need for collective efforts in ensuring the fairness and transparency of the upcoming 2024 elections in Ghana. Highlighting the fundamental role of credible elections in sustaining functional democracies worldwide, the President urged all citizens and relevant stakeholders to prioritize the integrity of the impending general elections slated for December.

Underscoring the pivotal nature of elections in democratic societies, Akufo-Addo stressed the imperative for respecting the established rules and regulations governing electoral processes. He reiterated, “No true democrat can disregard the importance of elections and the sanctity of the ballot,” emphasizing the collective responsibility in upholding fair conduct and adherence to electoral norms, regardless of individual or party outcomes.

The President emphasized that strengthening Ghana’s democracy and preserving peace and stability hinge upon collaborative efforts among stakeholders. Akufo-Addo called upon the Electoral Commission, political parties, leaders, electorate, and citizens to collaborate in fortifying Ghana’s democratic foundations. He urged all involved parties to contribute to the consolidation of Ghanaian democracy, aiming to maintain the country’s esteemed position as a model of democratic excellence in Africa.
