President Akufo-Addo will commission the newly completed Flower Pot Interchange on November 19, 2024, as confirmed by Eugene Arhin, Communications Director at the Presidency. The project, located at the intersection of Spintex Road and Boundary Road in East Legon, features an 800-meter flyover, ramps connecting to the motorway, and enhancements around the Flowerpot roundabout.
Key objectives of the interchange include reducing traffic congestion at the Spintex intersection, providing a direct link between Burma Camp and East Legon, and improving north-south travel along the Accra-Tema Motorway.
Project Scope and Features:
Flyover and Ramps: An 802-meter dual carriageway flyover with asphalt surfacing, along with ramps providing access to the motorway.
Road Extensions: A new route through East Legon’s old tunnel and an additional 200 meters of road connecting Cantonments to Giffard Road.
Pedestrian Facilities: Walkways, streetlights, road markings, and traffic signals to enhance pedestrian safety and traffic flow.
The interchange is anticipated to streamline traffic, reduce travel times, and improve connectivity across Accra.
