Police Intercept GH₵1,021,700 In Cash Hidden In Fertilizer Bags On Transit Bus At Juapong Checkpoint

Police in the Volta Region have intercepted over GH¢1 million in cash concealed in fertiliser bags aboard a commercial bus en route to Kumasi.

According to a statement issued by the Volta Regional Police Command and signed by DSP Felix Danku of the Public Affairs Unit, the operation was conducted at the Juapong Snap Check Point on Tuesday, June 3, around 4:45 p.m., following a tip-off.

Upon stopping the Ford Transit bus, officers carried out a detailed search and uncovered 68 fertiliser bags filled with one-cedi notes and coins, amounting to a total of GH¢1,021,700.

The driver, Edward Ansah, told police during interrogation that he had been hired by an unidentified person in Kumasi to transport the money from Ho in the Volta Region. He is currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
