Police Assign Psychologist to Support Family of Late Kotoko Fan Pooley

The Ghana Police Service has assigned a psychologist to provide counseling support to the family of Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, a devoted Asante Kotoko fan who tragically lost his life after an alleged stabbing incident at a match between Kotoko and Nsoatreman Football Club.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, made this announcement during a visit to the bereaved family in Kumasi, where he assured them that thorough investigations were underway to bring justice to the deceased.

Leading a team of investigators and senior officers, the IGP expressed his condolences and reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the incident are held accountable.

The psychological support aims to help Pooley’s wife and children cope with the devastating loss. The move has been widely praised, with many calling for swift action to prevent violence at football matches and ensure the safety of fans.
