The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has released an updated list of ongoing corruption-related prosecutions, highlighting several high-profile cases currently before the courts as part of its mandate to promote transparency and fight corruption in Ghana.
The list, which was made public on Thursday, July 17, features seven active cases involving former and current public officials, procurement officers, and corporate figures. It forms part of the OSP’s efforts to keep the public informed about progress in its anti-corruption drive.
Among the most notable cases is Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & 9 Others, which is currently at the plea hearing stage. The case involves a group of individuals accused of engaging in corruption-related activities during their tenure in public office.
Other prominent individuals on the list include:
Sumaila Abdul-Rahman, former Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority (NDA)
Ibrahim Sessah, a public procurement officer
Charles C. N. O. Bissue, former Secretary to the now-defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining
Adjenim Boateng Adjei, former Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), whose case has been ongoing since 2022
The OSP also noted that the case involving Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka is currently at the appeal stage, indicating that legal proceedings are still active in that matter.
This publication follows recent public interest in the performance and impact of the OSP, as it continues to pursue accountability in governance and tackle corruption across sectors. The office has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that due process is followed and that all accused individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court of law.
