The National Identification Authority (NIA) has received 700,000 blank Ghana Card stock to address the backlog of pending applications. The delivery, which arrived on Monday, February 17, 2025, follows extensive negotiations led by Acting Executive Secretary Wisdom Kwaku Deku and the authority’s technical partners.
The blank cards will be used to process delayed applications, including first-time registrations, card replacements, and personal information updates that have been pending since 2023.
To ensure a swift and efficient rollout, the Acting Executive Secretary has established a dedicated technical team to oversee the printing and distribution process across district offices.
This initiative aligns with the government’s goal of ensuring that all Ghanaians aged 15 and above have access to the Ghana Card for identification and verification purposes.
In a statement issued on February 18, the NIA reassured the public that card issuance will commence soon, with further updates to be provided at district offices nationwide.
