My Government will Recover Wealth Stolen through Corrupt Means

John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has committed to working with relevant authorities and partners to reclaim funds and properties acquired through corrupt practices if he wins the December 7 general elections.

In a live broadcast titled ‘Mahama Conversations,’ the former president criticized the increasing corruption and fiscal mismanagement under the Akufo-Addo administration. He assured that all ill-gotten monies would be recovered should he be elected.

Mahama highlighted the case of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah, who had over $1 million stolen from her Abelemkpe residence by domestic staff. He emphasized his intent to collaborate extensively to ensure the retrieval of every unlawfully obtained Cedi.

“Despite the socio-economic challenges, young people witness the extravagance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials, who spend $20,000 per hour on private jets for trips our Falcon Executive Jet could handle,” Mahama remarked. “The Defence Minister’s justification was the lack of a shower for a presidential bath. Additionally, a minister’s ability to stash millions at home reveals the broader issue of misappropriated taxpayer funds.”

Mahama assured Ghanaians that, with the cooperation of both local and international anti-corruption partners, his administration would make every effort to recover wealth acquired through corruption.
