A severe shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has gripped parts of Accra, causing concern among residents and businesses.
The shortage, if unresolved, could lead to the closure of gas stations across the country, affecting daily life.
Numerous gas stations have displayed “No Gas” signs, leaving consumers frustrated as they scramble for alternatives or return home without fuel. The few stations that still have LPG are struggling to keep up with overwhelming demand.
Gabriel Kumi, Vice President of the LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA), has warned that the situation could worsen if supplies from Bulk Oil Distributors do not improve.
He cautioned that up to 80% of gas stations in Greater Accra could run out of LPG by the weekend, leading to widespread shutdowns.
However, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has stated that the issue has been resolved, a claim that marketers and consumers dispute, urging the authorities to take immediate action to address the shortage.
