Lifestyle TV to Telecast Afua Asantewaa’s Guinness World Record Singathon Attempt

Ghanaian Journalist and Entrepreneur Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum is gearing up to challenge a Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual. As part of her quest to elevate Ghanaian music onto the global platform, Asantewaa’s performance will be showcased exclusively on Lifestyle TV.

Her goal is to present the rich diversity of Ghanaian music genres, including gospel, highlife, and hiplife. Asantewaa aims to sing over 3,200 unique Ghanaian songs, adhering to strict Guinness World Records guidelines. Each song must be performed within a stringent two-minute timeframe, intensifying the challenge of her endeavor.

During her non-stop performance scheduled from December 24 to 27 at the Akwaaba Village in Accra, Ghana, Asantewaa aims to sing for a staggering 117 hours or more. An intriguing twist to her marathon is that the audience can engage solely by enjoying her singing, without joining in with their own voices.

Inspired by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci’s recent Guinness World Record achievement for the longest cooking marathon, Asantewaa aims to break boundaries by using this opportunity to spotlight Ghanaian music. The current record holder, Sunil Waghmare, achieved the feat in Nagpur, India, in 2012 by singing an assorted collection of popular Indian songs without repetition within four hours.
