Legal Team for New Force Spokesperson Threatens Legal Action to Obtain Alleged Forged Documents from GIS

The legal representative of Francis Xavier Sosu, the embattled spokesperson for The New Force Movement, has declared the intention to pursue legal avenues to compel the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to produce documents allegedly forged by his client.

Sosu’s lead counsel affirmed that despite requesting the Immigration Service for a copy of the purportedly forged document, no compliance had been received.

The situation emerged when Belgian national Ms. Shalimar Abbiusi was apprehended by the National Investigation Bureau in connection with identifying individuals associated with the Movement’s establishment.

Following her arrest, Ms. Abbiusi appeared before the Kaneshie District Court and was granted bail amounting to GH¢20,000. As part of the bail conditions, she is required to report to the police three times weekly.

Speaking to Citi News, Francis Xavier Sosu emphasized the defense’s pursuit of the alleged forged documents: “We are keen on obtaining the Immigration Service’s disclosure of these documents to properly advise our client. We firmly assert that the documents purportedly forged were not executed by our client. We have sought access to the officers responsible for the visa issuance process.”

He continued, “This information is crucial for us to effectively address the matter as our client was not directly involved in the acquisition of said documents or the subsequent visa issuance. We anticipate receipt of these documents by the end of Monday. Failure to do so will prompt us to pursue a fresh application demanding the production of these documents before delving into the substantive merits of the case.”

The legal team remains prepared to take further legal action if necessary to ensure the documents in question are brought forth for scrutiny, affirming their client’s non-involvement in the alleged document forgery.
