JUST IN: President Akufo-Addo Forcefully Retires Domelevo, Thanks The Auditor General For His Service

Ghanaarticles.com has sighted a letter from the presidency signed by President Nana Akufo-Addo indicating that the Auditor-General can no longer serve in his office.

In the letter dated March 3, 2021, Akufo-Addo noted that he believes that the Daniel Yao Domelevo is retired hence cannot remain in office.

The president therefore expressed appreciation to him for his service and indicated that a substantive replacement for him will soon be announced.

The letter comes few hours after the Auditor -General formally resumed work after his compulsory 167 days instructed by the president.

“The attention of the President of the Republic has been drawn to records and documents made available to this Office by the Audit Service, that indicate that your date of birth is 1st June 1960, and that in accordance with article 199 (1) of the Constitution, your date of retirement as Auditor-General was 1st June 2020.”

“Based on this information, the President is of the view that you have formally left office..” the letter noted.

President Akufo-Addo however, thanked his for his service and wished Domelevo well in his future endeavors.

The letter also mentioned that Mr. Johnson Akuamoa-Aseidu will continue to act as the Auditor-General until the president appoints a substantive one.
