High Court Rejects Contempt Case Against KT Hammond in Accral

In Accra, a High Court has rejected the contempt case brought against Kobina Tahir Hammond, the Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, who is affectionately known as K.T. Hammond. The case was filed by the legal team of James Gyakye Quayson, the Member of Parliament for Assin North.

K.T. Hammond faced accusations related to comments made during a media interview, which were perceived as prejudicial to the ongoing criminal case against Quayson. The charges against Quayson involve allegations of dual citizenship.

However, on October 19, 2023, the court decided to dismiss the case. The presiding judge’s decision was based on the insufficient evidence provided to support a conviction. Furthermore, the judge determined that Hammond’s comments were not intended to interfere with the criminal proceedings against Quayson.
