Heightened Digital Tracking Risks in 2024: Insights from Cyber Security Analyst

In a recent statement, David Gyedu, the CEO of Cyber1 Defense and Communication and a renowned Cyber Security Analyst, has issued a warning about the increased risks associated with digital tracking in the current year. Gyedu emphasized the significance of privacy in the digital age, urging individuals to be mindful of the information they disclose.

During an interview, Gyedu explained that digital tracking pervades various aspects of technology, capturing details about individuals’ identities, preferences, online activities, and even their geographical locations. He highlighted the potential threats to privacy, emphasizing the intrusive nature of recording IP addresses and GPS coordinates.

Gyedu delineated various forms of digital tracking, including first-party tracking, where visited websites collect user information directly, third-party tracking apps that gain access to user data through other sites, and GPS tracking, which pinpoints an individual’s exact location.

To address these concerns, Gyedu recommended using platforms like Disconnect.me and Ghostery. Disconnect.me effectively severs connections with all tracking activities, while Ghostery, as a browser extension, acts as a protective barrier between users and potential third-party exposure.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital tracking, Gyedu commended its contributions to various technological advancements. However, he emphasized the need for public caution online, emphasizing the awareness of the information shared, as our actions online are increasingly becoming an open book.
