Even Akufo-Addo Failed Twice Before Becoming President – Afua Asantewaa Announces Upcoming 2nd Singathon

Ghanaian journalist and singer, Afua Asantewaa O Aduonum, has announced her intention to attempt breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest solo singing marathon once again.

Her initial attempt in December 2023, where she aimed to break the record set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare, who sang for 105 hours non-stop in 2012, ended in disqualification.

Despite this setback, the mother of three remains determined and is preparing for another attempt at the prestigious title.

Asantewaa explained that her first attempt was hindered by only having two weeks to organize the challenge. She is optimistic that with more preparation time, she will achieve her goal and bring pride to Ghana.

In a video shared by Graphic Showbiz, she stated, “I’ve reflected a lot on this, and I see my record attempt as similar to the Black Stars participating in a World Cup, the Black Queens in an African Cup, or a presidential candidate running for office. I’ve never seen the Black Stars quit football because they didn’t qualify for the World Cup. They keep playing.”

“I’ve seen presidential candidates who haven’t won still try again. So, just because my record attempt wasn’t successful, it doesn’t mean I should give up. We are still considering it. Moving forward, I believe we’ve learned a lot. We had only two weeks to prepare for last year’s attempt in December 2023. Now, we have several months ahead to prepare thoroughly and achieve the record, making Ghana proud. If I succeed next year, it will put Ghana on the map.”
