‘We’ve Done It Before, Ghanaians Must Be Calm And Positive’ – Chris Hughton Urges Ghanaians To Support Black Stars

The Technical Advisor of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton, has said the entire team is committed to securing qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The former Newcastle United manager, therefore, called on all Ghanaians to remain calm and positive ahead of the play-off game against Nigeria.

“As a part of the build-up, I would like to urge Ghanaians to remain calm and positive about the team because we strongly believe we have the quality, desire and hunger to achieve the results that we want,” Hughton said via the GFA’s YouTube handle.

The first leg is scheduled for Friday, March 25, 2022, while the second leg will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi will host the first leg of the 2022 World Cup playoff game between Ghana and Nigeria.

Hughton added that everyone associated with the national team is determined to represent Ghana at the World Cup.

“It is our aim to qualify for the Qatar (2022) World Cup and we all have a duty to make that dream a reality,” he said.

“Ghana have done it before and we can guarantee you that everybody associated with the Black Stars wants this opportunity again to perform on a world stage.

“This moment presents the opportunity to write history and we are all committed to it from the players, the technical staff, the Ghana Football Association and, the Government. We value your support. We are Ghana and we are ready.”

“The players, the technical team and the Ghana Football Association are committed to this task. We really want to make ourselves and the nation proud by qualifying for this upcoming World Cup,” he said in a video shared on the GFA’s YouTube Page.

“Matches between Ghana and Nigeria are always difficult but we believe in our players, strategies and the unflinching support of all Ghanaians. We are Ghana and have what it takes to come out victorious.”

The first leg is scheduled for Friday, March 25, 2022, while the second leg will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
