Cecilia Dapaah Seeks Injunction Against Special Prosecutor’s Office, Requests Halt to Property Confiscation

Former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah, has taken legal action by filing an interlocutory injunction application against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). Her application aims to prevent any further confiscation of her properties while the criminal case against her is pending.

Dapaah’s legal team submitted the application, asking the court to issue an order of interlocutory injunction. This order would restrict the Office of the Special Prosecutor and its agents from taking any actions that might harm her rights, including her right to a fair trial, protection from property deprivation, and administrative justice. These restrictions would remain in place until the final determination of the case.

This isn’t the first time Dapaah has taken legal steps to protect her interests. She previously filed a similar application on October 10 in an effort to halt the OSP’s investigation and prosecution of both herself and her husband, Daniel Osei Kufuor, who face charges related to suspected corruption.

In her application for a judicial review in the October suit, the former Minister argued that the seizure and freezing of her bank accounts on September 5, 2023, was unfair, unreasonable, capricious, and arbitrary. She stressed that the court’s approval is essential to safeguard her property and personal rights, as damages alone would be insufficient to compensate her.

Cecilia Dapaah’s legal battle with the Office of the Special Prosecutor continues as she seeks to protect her rights and properties while awaiting the court’s decisions.
