Bank of Ghana Raises Transaction Limits for Mobile Money Wallets Effective March 1

Starting March 1, 2024, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has opted to revise the balance and transaction limits for customers’ mobile money wallets in response to the increasing trend of transactional activities and evolving customer requirements.

The adjustment, as disclosed by the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, aims to accommodate the shifting demands of users. Under the revised limits, there are notable enhancements to the daily transaction caps across various account tiers.

For instance, the baseline account, previously capped at GH¢2,000, has been elevated to GH¢3,000. Likewise, the medium account’s limit has surged from GH¢10,000 to GH¢15,000, while the enhanced account now permits transactions up to GH¢25,000, up from GH¢15,000.

Maximum account holders will also witness adjustments. The minimum account threshold has ascended from GH¢3,000 to GH¢5,000. Moreover, the medium account’s transaction ceiling has been bolstered from GH¢25,000 to GH¢40,000, and the enhanced account now allows transactions up to GH¢75,000, compared to the previous GH¢50,000.

In terms of monthly transaction limits, the baseline account’s cap has been raised from GH¢6,000 to GH¢10,000. Notably, the monthly transaction limits for medium and enhanced accounts remain unaffected, with no predefined caps on transaction values.

The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications encourages individuals to seek clarification from their member institutions’ personnel at any of their customer service centers nationwide.
