The judge overseeing the ambulance case has ruled that an audio recording of a conversation between Richard Jakpa and the Attorney General does not indicate that Godfred Dame instructed Mr. Jakpa to implicate Ato Forson.
The audio was central to applications submitted by Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa, who sought to halt their prosecutions.
The recording was presented as evidence in support of a mistrial application filed by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson. Justice Afia Serwah Asare Botwe, after dismissing the Attorney General’s objection to the submission of the pen drive containing the audio, evaluated the recording’s content.
Justice Botwe noted that while the conversation did show an interaction between Richard Jakpa and Godfred Dame, it did not support the allegation that the Attorney General asked Jakpa to implicate Ato Forson.
She determined that the claims were actually made by Richard Jakpa himself, and not by the Attorney General. According to Justice Botwe, these statements were solely the words of Richard Jakpa.
The judge did express concern over the Attorney General’s engagement with an accused person he is prosecuting, particularly noting that the AG requested the accused to file a medical excuse.
