Assemblies of God Hold First Ever Retirement Service At National Theatre In Honor of Rev. Charles Appiah-Boachie

Rev Charles Appiah-Boachie was declared retired from active ministry after 40years in a glorious and colourful ceremony held on Saturday, 27th February 2021.

It was the first-ever retirement service held outside the retiring pastor’s church and at the National Theatre by the Assemblies of God, Ghana.

The glorious and colorful ceremony saw hundreds of people come from different places within Ghana and outside the country.

Until his retirement, Rev Charles Appiah-Boachie was the senior pastor of Evangel Assemblies of God located at Adabraka, Off Kojo Thompson road.

He pastored the Evangel for 15years after he left Calvary Temple Assemblies of God, Bantama-Kumasi.

He pastored Calvary Temple for 25years before leaving to Accra. His decision to pastor Evangel as been described by many as “a great sacrifice.”

Rev Charles Appiah-Boachie left Calvary Temple AG; a big church and to pastor Evangel; a struggling church with just few members seated at every service.

Evangel Assemblies of God is one the biggest and most respected churches in AG. However, many year ago, the church’s glory was gone.

In 2005, the church went into a serious crisis which led to the splitting of church members after sometime. In a bait to find the right person to lead the church back to it glorious days.

Different pastors were sent to preach at Evangel during Sundays services and mid-week days Bible Studies, eventually Rev Charles was appointed to pastor the church.

He went on to restore the unity and after 15years Evangel can now hit their chest and say we are back to our rightful place.

In 40 years of his pastoral ministry, he has planted 20 churches in total both in Kumasi and Accra and has raised so many people in the ministry.

He has held positions like Sectional Secretary, District Secretary, District Superintendent, Regional Superintendent and General Secretary apart from being a local pastor.

Until his retirement, he was a lecturer at the Assemblies of Theological Seminar at Saltpond, Cape Coast.

Rev Charles Appiah-Boachie goes in the history of Evangel church as one of the greatest pastors to have head the church.
