I got married at the age of 23; my wife was 22 – Afenyo Markins

Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has revealed that he got married at the young age of 23, with his wife being just 22 at the time.

Speaking in an interview on Joy News on February 19, 2025, the Effutu MP shared insights into his early marriage journey, describing it as a bold decision he made at a young age.

“My wedding pictures are those behind me. At age 23, I took that bold decision to go to the altar, and then we started a union there,” he stated.

Reaffirming his marriage timeline in a previous interview on February 2, 2025, Afenyo-Markin emphasized, “I had my wedding at the age of 23; my wife was 22.”

During his conversation with Joy News, the parliamentary leader, whose office features an array of framed photographs, explained that he draws inspiration from the images around him. His collection includes pictures of his family, key figures from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
