The Chiefs and people of Anloland, led by Togbi Sri III, the Overlord of Anlo Dukor, have called on Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to disclose the identity of the Member of Parliament (MP) who allegedly insulted Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings during a recent parliamentary debate.
The controversial remark, “Shut up—you daughter of a murderer,” was reportedly directed at the Klottey Korle MP on February 4, 2025, sparking outrage among the Anlo community.
Initially, MPs Samuel Abu Jinapor (Damango) and Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei (Bosome Freho) were suspected of making the statement, but both have denied responsibility.
In a petition dated February 5, the Anlo Dukor Council condemned the insult as blasphemous and defamatory, emphasizing that Zanetor Rawlings—daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings—is a respected figure within their community.
The Chiefs have given Speaker Bagbin a deadline of February 10, 2025, to name the MP responsible, warning that failure to address the issue could lead to further action by the Anlo leadership.
They stressed that such disrespect in Parliament should not be tolerated, especially when it involves a figure of historical and cultural significance to the Anlo people.
