Two young women were tragically burnt beyond recognition following a severe accident at East Legon on Saturday, October 12, 2024. The collision, which involved a Jaguar and an Acura, left three others, including the drivers, with serious injuries. They are currently fighting for their lives.
According to Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) Alex King Nartey from the Public Affairs Department of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the accident occurred in the late afternoon as a result of over-speeding. One of the vehicles collided with a wooden electric pole, causing the cables to fall and ignite the fire that engulfed the Acura vehicle, trapping the victims inside.
Firefighters managed to retrieve one body, and efforts are ongoing to extricate the second trapped body. The victims were passengers in the Acura.
This tragic accident has shocked the community, as investigations continue into the cause of the collision.
