A 52-year-old man, Samuel Yaw Koranteng, was arrested and handed over to the Nsawam police after being found in possession of a biometric verification device (BVD) belonging to the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
Koranteng, who claims to reside in Tudu, Accra, was spotted with the device, identified by serial number VVD49976, by local residents in Nsawam on Friday, August 23. Concerned by the presence of the EC equipment, members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Nsawam promptly facilitated his arrest and transferred him to the police for further investigation.
Mark Oliver Kevor, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, confirmed the incident to Channel One News and urged the Inspector General of Police to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the possession of the device.
