Mahama Calls for Justice and Compensation for Victims of Ayawaso-West Wuogon Violence

Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has demanded justice and compensation for victims of the violence that erupted during the Ayawaso-West Wuogon by-election. During a visit to Isshau Yaro’s residence on Tuesday, April 2, Mahama emphasized the need for accountability and support for those affected by the violence, particularly highlighting Isshau Yaro’s plight.

Addressing the media during his visit, Mahama expressed his dismay at Yaro’s condition, describing him as a once energetic and hardworking young man who has become incapacitated as a result of the violence. Mahama urged President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia to take note of Yaro’s situation and provide the necessary compensation to help him rebuild his life.

Mahama referred to the Commission of Enquiry’s report on the Ayawaso-West Wuogon violence, which recommended sanctions for those involved and compensation for the injured. He lamented that despite the recommendations, no compensation has been paid to Isshau Yaro or other victims, calling on the government to show sympathy and fulfill its obligations to those affected by the violence.
