Akufo-Addo to Host Reparations Conference with Global Leaders in Accra

President Akufo-Addo is set to host the Accra Reparations Conference, a four-day event scheduled to take place from November 14th to 17th, 2023. Under the theme “Building a United Front to Advance the Cause of Justice and the Payment of Reparations to Africans,” this conference will bring together an array of leaders, both from Africa and the Diaspora, as well as prominent figures from academia, legal experts, and civil society organizations.

The primary objective of this conference is to facilitate dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the development of actionable strategies among a diverse group of stakeholders. The focus will be on addressing historical injustices that have persisted through eras such as the slave trade, segregation, colonialism, apartheid, neo-colonialism, and neo-liberalism.

Among the distinguished leaders scheduled to attend this significant event are H.E. Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the African Union; President Faure Essozimna Gnassigbé of Togo; General Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau; Prime Minister Gervais Ndirakobuca of Burundi; and Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, alongside other prominent world leaders.

This gathering is seen as a crucial step in addressing historical grievances and promoting unity among nations committed to rectifying past injustices.
