University of Ghana to Withdraw Students with CGPA Below 1.0

In a recent statement issued by the Academic Affairs Directorate of the University of Ghana, Legon, a significant decision has been made regarding the academic standing of continuing students. According to the university’s regulations, students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.0 will be withdrawn from the institution.

The decision, which is in line with Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017), emphasizes the importance of maintaining a minimum CGPA for progression to the next level of study. Currently, the prescribed minimum CGPA for all undergraduate students in the university stands at 1.00.

To implement this decision, the university has instructed all level 200 and level 300 students to review their academic performance by accessing their online provisional transcripts through the Management Information System Web (MISWeb). Students who find that their CGPA falls below the approved minimum for their respective college can expect to receive official withdrawal letters from the university via their official UG email addresses in the near future.

For those students who have already paid their tuition fees for the 2023/2024 academic year, the statement assures them that a refund will be processed upon request.

The university acknowledges the gravity of this announcement and extends an invitation to any student with questions or requiring support to reach out to their relevant College Academic Office. They emphasize the importance of understanding and cooperation in this matter.
