NPP-UK Endorses Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia for 2024 General Elections

In a significant development, the United Kingdom branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially declared its unwavering support for Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia as the preferred candidate to lead the party in the upcoming 2024 general elections. This announcement follows a closed-door meeting held on August 25, 2023, in Accra, Ghana, where the NPP UK branch leadership gathered for a special electoral college.

During the meeting, the branch party executives, under the leadership of Chairman Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, voiced their unanimous endorsement of Bawumia’s candidacy. Agyapong emphasized that they firmly believe Vice-President Bawumia is the ideal candidate to lead the NPP and continue the party’s developmental initiatives. He also stressed the importance of continuity in the governance of the party, hoping to break the eight-year cyclical change of power.

The decision to endorse Bawumia was reached after extensive assessments of all candidates and discussions with the general membership of the NPP in the UK. Agyapong noted that Bawumia’s candidacy was strategically crucial, with a consensus among the majority of members.

Among the branch executives who expressed their commitment to ensuring Bawumia’s victory on November 4, 2023, were First Vice Chairman Alex Appiah Mensah, Branch Secretary Otuo Acheampong, and Branch Women’s Organizer Patricia Achiaa Boakye.

In response to the endorsement, Vice-President Bawumia expressed his gratitude to the NPP UK branch for their continuous support. He stated, “I am deeply appreciative of the confidence and trust the NPP UK branch has placed in me. Together, we will continue the good developmental programs and initiatives for the betterment of our country.”

This declaration of support comes after Bawumia’s participation in the NPP International Women’s Conference 2023 held in London, where the UK branch leadership had previously thanked him and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the government and the president.
