The Zongo Institute for Development (ZID) has called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to investigate and sanction members of the Ayawaso East Primary Vetting Committee following the secret filming of parliamentary aspirant Hajia Amina Adam.

Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Ayawaso East Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, is currently observing widowhood rites, which traditionally require her to remain out of public view for a period of 40 days.

Despite formally requesting to be vetted virtually, her request was denied by the party’s Functional Executive Committee, compelling her to appear in person at the constituency office for the vetting exercise.

Images from the session later surfaced online and went viral, sparking widespread public concern and criticism.

In a statement issued on Thursday, January 29, 2026, ZID condemned the actions of the vetting committee, describing the filming and circulation of the images as a violation of Hajia Amina Adam’s dignity and a breach of established vetting protocols.

The institute said the incident has exposed the aspirant to unnecessary public ridicule and emotional distress, particularly given her current observance of widowhood rites.

ZID further questioned the adequacy of administrative and security arrangements surrounding the NDC’s internal electoral processes and called for an immediate probe into the matter.

The group also urged the party to implement urgent reforms to prevent similar incidents in future internal elections.
