Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ghana’s Minister of Education, has assured the public that the results of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be released no later than December 29, 2024.
The minister gave this assurance during a working visit to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) printing facility, following concerns over delays caused by technical challenges. WAEC had earlier disclosed that a breakdown of scanners, compounded by the government’s outstanding debts, hindered its ability to repair or procure new equipment, thereby affecting the timely release of results.
To address these issues, the Ministry of Education allocated GH¢25 million to assist WAEC in enhancing its operations.
After inspecting the facility, Dr. Adutwum expressed satisfaction with the progress being made and praised WAEC staff for their commitment. “By December 29 or earlier, the results will be out, enabling universities to proceed with admissions for students to continue their education,” he stated.
Accompanied by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Adutwum commended WAEC’s efforts, particularly as staff worked during the holiday period to meet the deadline.
This announcement is expected to ease anxieties among students and parents awaiting the results, which are crucial for university admissions and other educational advancements.
