Three people are in critical condition while several others sustained injuries following a road traffic accident on the Ho–Adidome Road in the Volta Region on Friday, December 19, 2025.
The accident, which occurred around 5:00 p.m., involved a Ford Transit vehicle travelling along the busy stretch. Eyewitnesses told CitiNews that the incident was triggered by a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and sparking panic among passengers.
According to the witnesses, a female passenger reportedly clung to the steering wheel as the driver struggled to regain control in an attempt to prevent a crash. Despite the effort, the vehicle was involved in an accident, leaving several passengers injured.
Sources at the scene confirmed that three of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries and were rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly, rescuing the injured and transporting them to the Ho Teaching Hospital and the Ho Municipal Hospital for urgent medical care.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
