UPSA Confers Posthumous Honorary Doctorate on Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has posthumously honoured former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings with an honorary doctorate for her lifelong service and contributions to national development.

UPSA also conferred honorary doctorates on Professor Joshua Alabi, a former vice-chancellor of the university, and Joseph K. Horgle, founder and executive chairman of J.K. Horgle Transport and Company Limited. The awards were presented during the fifth session of the university’s 17th Congregation held at the main campus in Accra.

The ceremony additionally saw the graduation of postgraduate students from the School of Graduate Studies, including recipients of PhD and master’s degrees across various programmes such as PhD in Marketing; MPhil in Accounting, Finance, and Leadership; MSc in Procurement Management; MSc in Leadership and Organisational Development; MA in Peace, Security, and Intelligence Management; MA in Brands and Communications Management; and MA in Digital and Strategic Marketing Management.

Speaking on behalf of the honourees, Professor Alabi described the honour as a testament to resilience, national service, and academic contribution. He encouraged the public to uphold patriotism and urged students to remain committed to excellence.

UPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, commended the honourees for their impact on national development and urged graduates to emulate their dedication as they pursue their careers.
