The Ghana Police Service has on Sunday April 13 confirmed that two officers were gunned down by suspected robbers at Poyamirea on the outskirts of Binduri in the Upper East Region.
The officers, who were in plain clothes and traveling on a private motorbike from Bongo to Binduri, were ambushed and fatally shot by unknown assailants. Their motorbike was also taken by the attackers.
The Ghana Police Service has withheld the identities of the officers, pending official notification of their families in accordance with custom and tradition. Both officers were serving under the Upper East Regional Command.
The loss has sent shockwaves through the police service and the wider community. The Police Administration has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the regional commander, and fellow officers, describing the attack as a “heinous crime.”
