A murder investigation is underway in Ho after a young man, identified as Maruan, was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbors at Sabong Zongo on Sunday night, August 4. The incident reportedly occurred between 11 pm and midnight.

Maruan, believed to be in his early twenties, was accused of stealing money from his neighbors. The situation escalated when two men from the same household, Kadel and his housemate Bube, allegedly attacked him. Witnesses claim that the victim was beaten unconscious before being struck on the head with a club.

In an attempt to cover up the incident, Kadel sought help from a tricycle taxi operator to transport Maruan to the hospital, fabricating a story that Maruan had fallen from a moving vehicle. However, upon arrival at the Ho Teaching Hospital, Maruan was pronounced dead.

The doctor on duty at the hospital notified the police, leading to the immediate arrest of the tricycle taxi operator. Kadel reportedly fled the scene before the police arrived but was later apprehended along with Bube on Monday evening, August 5. The tricycle taxi operator has since been released.

The police spokesman confirmed the arrests but did not provide additional details. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Ho Teaching Hospital morgue, awaiting an autopsy.
