In a recent interview, renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Isaac Kwadwo Ampong, popularly known as Great Ampong, opened up about his forthcoming 17th album set to release on December 3, 2023. Amid discussions about the acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community in Ghana, Ampong revealed that one of the tracks on his new album was dedicated specifically to the LGBTQ+ community.
Explaining his rationale behind the song, Ampong stated that it aimed to remind the LGBTQ+ community of the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah, citing it as the reason for God’s wrath. He emphasized his intention to advise against practicing actions reminiscent of those cities, alluding to his belief that such practices were against the teachings of the gospel.
During the conversation, Ampong mentioned a few other tracks on his upcoming album, such as “Style Biaa Bi” and “Gyata Bewi Taliaa,” highlighting the diverse themes present in his musical collection. He reiterated that the essence of gospel music was about sharing good news and hoped that his songs would convey this message effectively.
In essence, Great Ampong’s new album includes a song addressing the LGBTQ+ community, urging them to reconsider their actions in light of biblical teachings, as he believes they contradict the gospel’s principles of righteousness.
