Ghanaians Blast MTN Over New Increased Data Charges For Fibre Broadband, TurboNet Customers

Beginning July 1, 2025, mobile network providers, MTN, Telecel, and AT, will implement a government-mandated increase in data bundle offerings, according to an announcement by the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Sam George.

The move, aimed at improving internet accessibility and affordability, will see bundle volumes rise between 10% and 15% across all three major networks.

AT (formerly AT-Tigo) will increase all existing bundles by 10%. For example, the GHC400 package will now offer 236GB, up from 195GB.

Telecel Ghana will also apply a 10% increase. Its GHC400 bundle will see a significant boost from 90GB to 250GB.

MTN Ghana will raise its bundle volumes by 15%. The previously adjusted GHC399 bundle, which had been changed to a GHC350 package offering 92.88GB, will be restored to 214GB for GHC399.

The Minister emphasized that this directive is part of the government’s broader push to ensure affordable and reliable digital access for all citizens.
