Suspect Arrested for Stabbing Firefighter During Adjiringanor Fire Outbreak

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has arrested 21-year-old Azumah Sampson, the prime suspect who allegedly stabbed a firefighter during a fire outbreak at Adjiringanor on Friday, November 14, 2025. The suspect was apprehended with the help of Fire Officers and members of the White Chapel Youth Group in Madina and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The stabbing occurred while firefighters from Legon, Madina, Adenta, and the National Headquarters were battling a late-night blaze that destroyed seven rooms in a two-storey, eight-room building near Ability Square. Two firefighters sustained injuries one from the stabbing and the other from a falling block. Both officers were treated and discharged from the Unity Clinic in Madina.

The GNFS had earlier appealed to the public for information to help arrest the attacker, even offering a reward for credible leads. In a new statement, the Service commended residents who provided assistance, acknowledging the White Chapel Youth Group for their key role in tracking down the suspect.

The Fire Service encouraged the public to continue supporting emergency responders, stressing that such cooperation enhances community safety and aids in delivering justice.
