Stonebwoy Explains Why He Abandoned Shatta Wale In Prison

Multiple awarding-winning Reggae/Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has revealed why he didn’t visit his industry mate Shatta Wale in Ankaful prison when he was remanded for faking a gunshot incident.

According to Stonebwoy, he did not believe the story of his shooting and did not panic when he heard it, but his legal team was in contact with Shatta Wale’s legal team and were ready to meet him when he learned that he had been detained by the police.

“I had no idea Shatta Wale had been shot. I didn’t want to trust what I was hearing. I conducted a number of calculations and additions based on the information that was distributed, and I determined that the news of his shooting didn’t add up. I was glad to learn that this was not the case.”

“My legal team and his legal team have a great working relationship… We had planned to pay him a visit on the day of his release, but we received another piece of information that caused us to postpone our visit, but the truth is Shatta Wale is not a patient,”

Meanwhile, the Accra Circuit Court 4 has ordered the police to release mobile phones belonging to Shatta Wale and his teammates, which are still in their possession.

This was when they reappeared before the court presided over by Emmanuel Essandor on November 8, 2021.

During the proceedings, the lawyer for both the dancehall artiste and his team members, Jerry Avenorgbo, told the judge the items were confiscated at the time of arrest and yet to be released.

Mr Avenorgbo argued that his clients largely depend on their mobile phones due to the kind of work they do, hence the police’s continuous withholding them will affect their livelihood.

He added all information the police would need for their investigation are already on social media as such, going into his clients’ phones would only serve to breach their privacy.

Judge Emmanuel Essandor thus ruled that “It is not the work of the defence to help the prosecution to do their case. After all, the accused is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.

The phones of the accused should be released to them. The alleged offences were allegedly made on social media.”

The case has been adjourned to December 7, 2021.

Since the news of Stonebwoy’s alleged many Grammy nominations broke, some industry insiders, including Citi FM’s Kwame Dadzie and Rocky Dawuni, have questioned his claim.

Stonebwoy’s ‘contentious’ nomination is based on his contributions to two nominated albums.

There is a distinction, according to Rocky Dawuni, between being a featured artist on a nominated record and having your entire body of work recognized. In the interview, he also stated that a contribution (feature) does not automatically qualify one for a Grammy nomination.

“You have contributed to the song, but you are not a nominee. The thing is, I am not the one saying it. You should go to the Academy website and see who the nominees are.

“I think that sometimes…been featured on a record is a great achievement. It’s really great, but we have to also recognize what is… we can’t create our own rules here and be using those rules,” Rocky Dawuni claimed.

Stonebwoy does not appear to appreciate this explanation and clarity.

His recent social media behavior has sparked a lot of speculation, with many people questioning if he’s truly making fun of his boss.
