
The government has announced that a state funeral will be held for the late former First Lady, Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.
The ceremony, which will take place under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama, will honour Mrs Rawlings for her remarkable contributions to the advancement of women’s and children’s rights, as well as her lifelong commitment to national development.
In a statement issued on Thursday, November 6, Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the event will celebrate Mrs Rawlings’ decades of public service and her dedication to gender equality and social justice.
Mrs Rawlings, founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, passed away on October 23, 2025.
The family has extended an invitation to the public to submit tributes in her memory as part of the commemoration activities.
