The Tema Circuit Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 to Veronica Vorsah, headmistress of St. Olives School of Grammar in Dodowa, with two sureties.
Ms Vorsah is facing two charges: causing harm, contrary to Section 69 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and assault under Section 84 of the same Act.
The charges follow a Channel One News exposé that revealed the alleged abuse of an eight-year-old pupil, Jalila Abdul Jalil, which subsequently triggered police investigations.
After meeting the bail conditions, the accused has been directed to report to the Dodowa Police Command every Wednesday as part of her bail terms.
Prosecutors have indicated that they will seek further advice from the Office of the Attorney-General as investigations into the matter continue.
The court has adjourned the case to March 9, 2026, for further hearing.
