Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that all outstanding bonuses owed to the Black Queens have been paid.
The confirmation comes after Ghana’s senior women’s national team threatened to boycott their second-leg clash against Egypt over unpaid bonuses.
Following a meeting with the Sports Minister and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku, the players agreed to honour the fixture after receiving assurances that their arrears would be settled.
Speaking to Woezor TV after the match, the Buem Member of Parliament affirmed that both players and officials had received their due payments.
“Black Queens’ bonuses have been paid,” Mr. Adams stated. “The players have been given their cheques after the game against Egypt in Accra, and the officials who deserve to be paid have been paid.”
The Black Queens have now booked their place at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after defeating Egypt 7–0 on aggregate.
Ghana secured a 3–0 win in the first leg in Ismailia and completed the qualification with a commanding 4–0 victory in Accra.
The team now awaits the group stage draw for the 2026 WAFCON, which will be held in Morocco. A semifinal finish at the tournament would guarantee Ghana a spot at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
