At least six people have lost their lives in a fatal road accident involving a trailer carrying cement and a commercial passenger bus on the Offinso–Abofuor highway in the Ashanti Region.
The crash occurred around 4:00 am on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, along the Sompraso–Awisam stretch of the busy road.
The vehicles involved were a trailer with registration number GN 5326-22 and a commercial bus bearing registration number GT 5509-20.
Several other passengers sustained critical injuries and were rushed to St. Patrick’s Hospital at Offinso-Maase, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the same facility’s morgue, pending further procedures.
Police have since commenced investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
