Six suspects, including four females and two males, have been arrested in connection with the brutal lynching of Lance Corporal Gideon Adu Boakye, a prison officer stationed at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison. The incident took place on September 29, 2024, at Kasoa Iron City, where Adu Boakye was visiting relatives.

The Ghana Prisons Service confirmed the arrests, and the suspects have been remanded while investigations continue. The officer was allegedly attacked by unknown assailants, leading to his death. Authorities are working to uncover the full circumstances of the incident.

In response, the Prisons Administration condemned the act of “instant justice,” urging the public to report suspicious activities to the police instead of resorting to mob action, which often harms innocent people. The Service extended condolences to the family of the slain officer and vowed to ensure justice is served.

They also called for calm among prison officers, assuring them that efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
